I had Live Aid on TV but walked in when U2 was cranking this song..never saw them perform before and I was blown away! Seems a little over the top 23 years later but certainly shows Bono's ability to win the crowd at Wembley for a day and the rest of the world over the next 20 years. Didn't see Queen's performance that day but will say it is one of the best live performances that was broadcast to such a massive audience. Springsteen's performance after 9/11 was also epic!

I know!
I love that part!

As regards Queen v U2 live, I'd agree with some posters in here - it's a matter of opinion + taste.

Me? U2 anytime and I'm in here listening to this 23 years after it was performed.

I agree with what you have said here,

but just because Freddie can't be as intimate doesn't mean he's a bad performer. It's just his style of performing.

I'd call him epic/outrageous haha.

first of all let me say that I absolutely love Live Aid.

Secondly, I love that he sings part of "Satellite of Love" by Lou Reed before he starts Bad.

Sure, there are many Queen songs Bono couldn't pull off. I was responding to the post that no one can equal Freddie. Just stating that the opposite is true as well. There's no mathematical formula for figuring out who is better. It's all opinion. I think they both were amazing on this day.

And of course Freddy Mercury is an absolute genius...there is no doubt. And sure, they could have ruled the day, and maybe they did...comparing perfection to perfection is an exercise more suitable to combatants...enjoy both performances for sure! And guess what? It's very real and was! That's what you can't find anymore, genuine people who care for each other. Wonderful stuff kids:)It will all come back, you just have to care a bit for your fellow man (and woman). I digress.....still, enjoy!

Well...I understand and appreciate any and all debates...it's not a contest, but I can tell you, without any reservations, and only from my perspective, that this day, this performance, was the greatest ever...remember, you had to 'be' there...the day, that day, and this performance, emotions and all things considered, was the greatest that I have ever seen....and I have not seen everything, but I have seen a lot. ok...politically correct division...just enjoy it and know a bit about it, thanks!

just as there are several songs of Freddie's that Bono couldn't pull off....so what
