The Dubliners - In The Rare Old Times
BackFrom the video titled "The Dubliners' Dublin" which is like a documentary with Ronnie taking viewers on a tour of his favourite watering holes, and meeting up with the lads for a few songs.
The song "Dublin In The Rare Old Times" was written by Pete St. John, who also wrote "Fields Of Athenry".

This is a real masterpiece sung by the master himself. It strikes the core of your soul. How could we ever get back to the rare old times?

Forgive my ignorance, but This song I first heard from Flogging Molly. Love that version as well. Now I know it is not their song, this version has more heart! I don't claim to know the reason this song came about, but I do appreciate good music! I see songs like this as the same as "country music" (old country music) in America. Story telling, good ole music, with something behind it!
